“Home” in 3 weeks
Questions we are sometimes asked:
You’re from Canada! Where do you live? “In our car” is the only answer we can give, of course, we say it giggling and explain that we are between places not to seem completely aloof to the “responsible” lifestyle we want to paint ourselves in.
Are you looking forward to going back to Canada? Going back to Canada feels like an extension of this journey we’re on – exciting yet unknown and somewhat vagabond*. We will be looking for a place to settle in and until then another place..
Pictures of me have been taken in other places, in other homes. Reflections that I look at and wonder.. where will I be in one month, in one year.
I. Like a cut out of a paper doll trying on homes instead of clothes.
Note to Self: A good home must be made, not bought. Joyce Maynard
*Vagabond:
The word is derived from the Latin adjective vagabundus, “inclined to wander”. It does not denote a member of a nomadic people, but rather an individual who follows a wandering lifestyle within a sedentary society.
“with a vagrant strain in the blood, a natural inquisitiveness about the world beyond their doors.” Compton-Rickett
