Ireland
Ireland was the perfect location for a Sunday drive (ours lasted 6 days). We visited cities, towns, villages, and far off back roads.
Our week long journey took us unexpectedly through national parks, to castle and abbey ruins, face to face with many sheep, camping along the Atlantic coastline, climbing Mt. Croagh Patrick, learning about neolithic burial rituals, and to the geological wonder of the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.
Both Elmir and I reached a point by the 6th day where we had become overstimulated by the beauty of every hill & valley. The history and storytelling is rich here – but one must search it out it seems. As for music, both of the boys are now mastering the irish wistle (It’s pretty sweet).
We camped in our, appropriately named, Teepee (the seats can be removed and rearranged to fit us all snuggly). We very good at finding the most lovely places to wake up to (Bansha Woods, coastal beaches..). We are parking at around 7pm for some down time and get to sleep generally around 9:30; then get going again around 7-9am. The children both take naps in the car at some point in the afternoon (pretty much on demand as we have been keeping them very busy).
We caught a ferry to Scotland yesterday and are at a Hotel tonight (a nice treat for us all). We will post about this later. Here is our vision of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
